Proclaiming America's Christian Heritage®

The first Christian Heritage Week was proclaimed in 1991 by Governor Bruce King of New Mexico at the request of the Albuquerque, NM chapter of Citizens for Excellence in Education.
In 1992 Governor Gaston Caperton of West Virginia became the second Governor to issue a Christian Heritage Week proclamation at the request of the Concord Christian Connection student group from Concord College in Athens, WV. Also in 1992, U.S. Congressman Nick Rahall [D-WV] introduced America’s Christian Heritage Week legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Since the early beginnings of the Christian Heritage Week movement; individuals and groups throughout the United States have requested state and local Christian Heritage Week proclamations for the week of Thanksgiving and other dates as well.
